伝統ある全日本学生柔道優勝大会が６月22、24日に日本武道館で行われました。
今年は男子と女子１部は東海大が共に２年ぶりに優勝し、女子２部は広島大が初優勝という結果となりました。
東海大は、男子は大会最多優勝の27回目、女子は８回目の優勝です。東海大柔道部副部長として大変嬉しく誇らしく思います。日頃より応援して下さっている皆様、いつもサポートして下さっている皆様に御礼申し上げます。
それにしても今年も見応えある試合の連続でした。
男子は天理大が15年ぶりに決勝に進み、中央大が19年ぶりに準決勝に進出。東洋大は４回戦で日本大を破るなどまさに群雄割拠の戦いでした。
女子１部も決勝戦は代表戦になり、どちらが勝つかわからない紙一重の戦いでした。
しかしながら、その紙一重の戦いを勝ち抜くことができたのは、それだけ周到で緻密な準備をしていたからだと思います。素晴らしい戦いぶりであったと思います。
今回の４年生は、新型コロナにより金鷲旗やインターハイが中止になった学年です。そのため最終学年での大舞台の経験が少なく、勢力を占いにくいという面があったと思います。また、それだけに選手の皆さんにとっても非常に思い入れのある大会になったのではないかと感じたところではあります。
10月には全日本体重別団体優勝大会が行われます。
今回の団体優勝大会同様、大学の威信をかけ、選手達が熱き思いをかけて戦う大会です。10月はどの大学が勝利を手にするのか、どんな試合が繰り広げられるのか楽しみです。
Uni Student Championships
The All Japan Student Judo Championships a long standing event were held on June 22nd, 23rd at the Nippon Budokan. Looking at the results, for the first time in 2 years Tokai Uni took the win in both the Men’s and Women’s in group one and in group 2 the Hiroshima Uni women’s team won for the first time.
It was the 27th win for the Tokai Uni men’s team, which gives them more wins than any other team. It was the 8th win for the women’s team. As Deputy Director of the Tokai University Judo Club, I am super proud and very happy for the team. I’d like to give a big thanks to everyone who has supported us every single step along the way.
I must say that all of this year’s matches were really worth watching. Tenri Uni’s men’s team made it to the finals for the first time in 15 years and Chuo Uni made it to the semi-finals for the first time in 19 years. With Toyo Uni beating Nihon Uni in the fourth round, it was truly a hard-fought battle in the Men’s division.
The Women’s group one final was a match representative of the competition being an extremely close fought battle. To win such a close match relies on meticulous pre-competition preparation and training. It was an absolutely fantastic effort.
Due to Covid -19 this year’s 4th year students never participated in a Kinshuki or in an Inter-high. Now in their final year, they’ve had very little experience on such a big stage so it was difficult to predict how well they would do. For that reason alone, I feel it was a truly memorable competition for all the athletes who took part.
The All-Japan Team Championships by Weight Class will be held in October. As with this team championship it will be a hard-fought contest with the reputation of each university at stake. I’m really looking forward to seeing what kind of matches will play out and which university will be victorious in October.
