４月４、５日に全日本選抜体重別選手権が行われ、世界選手権とアジア競技大会等の代表選手が出揃いました。
次は体重無差別のビッグ２大会がやって来ます。
19日（日）に皇后盃全日本女子選手権、そして来週26日（日）には天皇杯全日本選手権が行われます。
まず全日本女子選手権ですが、組み合わせを見ると、今年は昨年の決勝を戦った２人、優勝した田中伶奈と準優勝の白金未桜を中心とした試合展開となるのではないかと思います。
昨年はこの田中と白金といった最重量級以外の選手の活躍が目立った大会でしたが、果たして今年はどうなるか。今年は久しぶりに優勝経験のある朝比奈沙羅が出場するということですからどんな柔道を見せてくれるのか、こちらも注目したいと思います。
全日本選手権は勢いある若手の試合に期待しています。
特に注目しているのは昨年の世界選手権90kg級で優勝した村尾三四郎と同準優勝の田嶋剛希、100kg級代表の新井道大の３人。
これらの選手に、昨年優勝の香川大吾、準優勝で現在はアメリカを拠点にしている原沢久喜、優勝経験のある太田彪雅や中野寛太ら100kg超級の実力者たちがどう絡み、また存在感を発揮するか。
また、今大会は昨年の世界選手権優勝の60kg級の永山竜樹と66kg級武岡毅の軽量級の２人も出場予定ですから両者がどんな柔道で挑むのかについても非常に楽しみです。
体重無差別で行われる全本女子選手権、全日本選手権は、現在、世界的に見ても唯一無二の大会です。国内の柔道ファンだけでなく、海外の柔道ファン、柔道家にとっても非常に魅力的であり、高い人気を誇る大会でもあります。
今年も国内外の柔道通をうならせる熱き戦いが繰り広げられることを心から期待しています。
Next up is the All Japan Judo Championships!
After the Championships by Weight Category held April 4th and 5th potential representatives for the World Championships and Asian Games are all in ready mode.
Next up are two big open weight competitions.
On Sunday 19th the Empress's Cup All Japan Women's Judo Championship, then the following Sunday 26th The Emperor’s Cup All Japan Championship.
First taking a look at the All Japan Women’s match set up, I have a feeling that last year’s winner TANAKA Reina and runner-up SHIRAKANE Mio are likely to dominate the development of the competition again this year.
Last year we saw some outstanding performances from judoka in categories other than the heaviest like TANAKA and SHIRAKANE, I’m interested to see how that will play out this year. Making a comeback after a long absence is previous winner ASAHINA Sarah. Her performance will definitely be one to watch.
In the All Japan Championships I’m looking forward to watching the young hopefuls who are showing momentum. In particular three athletes in the -100kg category; MURAO Sanshiro, winner of the World Championships -90kg category last year, runner-up TAJIMA Goki and ARAI Dota.
In addition I’m curious to see how last year’s winner KAGAWA Daigo and runner-up HARASAWA Hisayoshi, who is currently based in the US, previous winners OTA Hyoga and NAKANO Kanta will be paired up and perform in the over 100kg category.
At this competition I am also anticipating some great performances from two lighter weight athletes, winner of last year’s World Championship -60kg category NAGAYAMA Ryuju and TAKEOKA Takeshi(-66kg).
Even by international standards the All Japan Women’s open-weight Championship and the All Japan Championship are unique competitions. Both are highly popular not only with Japanese fans but also with international judo fans and judoka.
I’m hopeful that this year will again bring us some thrilling matches for fans both at home and abroad.
