Before getting sick, I was working late in the weekdays and usually came back before 12am, weekends I was tired and slept until 4pm. I didn’t have time, and wasn’t enjoying life.

I would take my friends who came to see me from outside Japan to Kamakura, but going for myself to admire beautiful place felt like something I hadn’t enjoyed in a while.

At the end my mum took me to a hidden western house in the back of a temple that served English tea

I loved the place and how wonderfully they did the scones that reminded me of London

I was worried most of the time about someone bumping into my post surgery body that couldn’t be told from the outside, but I was happy I managed to overcome my first outing, enjoy hydrangeas and a new favourite place.

This would continue to be an annual visit for my mum and I.
