------------ 原稿 ----------------- Japan faces 'extinction' in 1,000 years
Japanese researchers on Friday unveiled a population clock that showed the nation's people could theoretically become extinct in 1,000 years because of declining birth rates.
Academics in the northern city of Sendai said that Japan's population of children aged up to 14, which now stands at 16.6 million, is shrinking at the rate of one every 100 seconds.
Their extrapolations pointed to a Japan with no children left within a millennium.
"If the rate of decline continues, we will be able to celebrate the Children's Day public holiday on May 5, 3011 as there will be one child," said Hiroshi Yoshida, an economics professor at Tohoku University.
"But 100 seconds later there will be no children left," he said.
More than 20 percent of Japan's people are aged 65 or over, one of the highest proportions of elderly in the world.
Japan has very little immigration and any suggestion of opening the borders to young workers who could help plug the population gap provokes strong reactions among the public.
Entrepreneur Dominic McVey became a millionaire at the age of 15 - all because he wanted a scooter!
A member of the millionaire’s club since the age of 15 just how did Dominic McVey make his money?
It all began when he couldn’t get the scooter he wanted, so found a way to import them himself.
At the time Dominic McVey was in school, a few months later he was a millionaire and he hasn’t looked back since.
Dominic McVey's rise to success began in 2000 when he was just 15, he’s now worth an impressive £7 million.
While searching for credit card Visa on the internet, McVey mis-spelt it and came across Viza collapsible micro-scooters that were being sold in the US.
Determined to get one but unable to afford it, he asked the company to give him one for free as he was sure he could sell the scooters in the UK.
It refused initially but then said if he bought five it would give him one scooter for free.
From that point on there was no stopping him.
He raised the cash to buy five scooters by organising under-18s discos, trading in stocks and shares using his dad’s credit card and selling mini disc players in Japan.
He easily flogged the five scooters to friends and family, the next week he sold 10.
Winning the European distribution rights for the scooters meant that two years later he’d sold 11 million units and the import business – which has seen grown men commute to work on the scooters – had made him a millionaire.
By the age of 18 he’d been appointed “As a Pioneer for Britain in Entrepreneurism” by the Queen.
And now, still only 27, his business portfolio includes property, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and publishing and sees him ranked along chart-topping pop stars and lottery winners on the latest‘Rich List’.
My other car? Oh that's a Ferrari, it's parked in my garage
Unable to rustle up the £15m he needed to buy his dream Ferrari, car enthusiast Chris Smart came up with an innovative solution - paint it on his garage door.
He spent two weeks sketching and painting the rare 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO with weather resistant paints.
Now neighbours and passers-by could be forgiven for thinking the customer support worker has traded in his BMW 1 Series for a classic motor.
Married 32-year-old Chris, who studied art at college, said:
'I hated the garage door before because it was really dull.
'I have always loved this particular car and wanted to make it a bit of fun.
'However, it would certainly be nice to have a real one in there.'

--------- 原稿 ----------------- Grandmother auditions to be Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Babies, don't let your grandmamas grow up to be Cowboys cheerleaders.
Sharon Simmons, a 55-year old grandmother, spent the weekend auditioning for the 2012 Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders.
The Carrollton, Texas, resident wanted to audition for the team when she was 22, but a number of factors -- including a lack of money, outfit, routine and child care -- forced her to give up that dream.
Years later, as a grandmother, successful fitness author and burgeoning actor, Simmons tried again.
She hired a former Cowboys cheerleader to help her prepare for the audition and said she was ready to compete with women half her age.
Simmons, a grandmother will turn 56 in May.
If she makes the team she will be the oldest NFL cheerleader in history.
Sharon told CBS Dallas. "I always wanted to try out. I got real close in my early 20s, but got busy raising my daughter. And I thought, why not now?"
