一昨日、知り合ってからそろそろ一年あまりになるベルギーのアントワープに住む音楽家のトムにクリスマスのお祝いのメールを送りました
私が西ヨーロッパの現状をとても心配しているとメッセージを付け加えて送ったところ、彼からも国民は新しいスタートを切る心構はできているのですが、権力者側がなかなか既得権益を譲らず、唯一選挙でしか変革できないと思うとのコメントをもらいました
日本とそっくりだと思いました

thank you for your blessings and wise words. My son and me are doing really fine.
I also hope that change will come without the necessity of a revolution. I think the people are actually almost ready for this, but the authorities will try to hold their power for some longer. I'm only aware of the situation in Belgium, for now there is no political alternative I'm afraid, so the elections are not going to bring much change. We have a duty to vote, although many lost their interest in politics. But indeed, in the long run, all will be better one day, with more awareness and care.
