Italian news reports said five people died on Wednesday from heat-related incidents. Several Italian regions have banned outdoor work during the hottest times of the day, and the government this week said firms forced to pause work due to the heat could access funds for furloughed staff.

ヨーロッパ各地で6月の時点で40℃近い気温を記録する地域もあり，異常な暑さが続いています。その影響により，熱中症による死者が出ているほか，学校の休校や鉄道の運休など，人々の生活にも大きな影響が及んでいるようです。今後さらに気温の上昇が予想される中，被害が拡大しないことを願うばかりです。（Taka)
