語源は etymonline によるとフランス語の macher からきており、元々は「踏みつける、足で踏み固める」という意味があった。しかし起源がハッキリしておらずフランク語の markon もしくはその他のゲルマン語源から来た言葉かもしれません。
こどもの日恒例の行事もこのようにどんどんなくなっていっています。昔からの行事が無くなってしまうのは悲しいですがこの少子化の問題を解決することがやはり大切になっていると改めて感じました。(en)
