Dear Dr. Tanabe & my friends,
I came back home in one piece on March 1st. I would like to look back on my days in America.
Throughout my trip this time, I truly realized the lack of English skills. First, when people in America, i.e., native speakers of English, spoke at a natural speed, I did not make the heads or tails of it. I really felt that I should listen to more English everyday from now on in order to improve my listening skills.
Second, I could not get across what I thought and felt in English well. When communicated with the people I met, there was no time to think what I had to say. Most of them were kind enough to wait for my broken English but that was just the beginning. Sometimes, I was left alone in the rapid flow of theri conversation. I really felt that I should be a quick thinker not just in my mother tongue but in English.
All in all, I had a really great time, and I will extend my appreciation to all the people who gave me such a wonderful experience.(Otoyo)
