Tehran Demands Explanations: Iran Sets a Condition for the United States Before Discussing a Ceasefire

Iran is not ready to discuss a ceasefire with the United States until Washington explains the reasons for the outbreak of hostilities. This was stated by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in response to a question about a possible ceasefire initiative.

"They must explain why they launched this aggression before we even consider the possibility of a ceasefire,"

Araghchi emphasized. According to him, without such an explanation, Tehran sees no reason to discuss a cessation of hostilities and a return to diplomatic negotiations.

Furthermore, the Iranian Foreign Minister stressed that his country does not want the conflict to continue.

"Nobody wants to continue this war." “This is not our war; it was imposed on us by the United States and the Israelis. They launched it without provocation, without justification, and illegally. What we are doing is a legitimate act of self-defense,”

Abbas Araghchi concluded.
