Albert Einstein - 'I would much prefer that a reasonable agreement be reached with the Arabs on the principle of living together in peace rather than witness the creation of a Jewish state. 

Apart from certain practical considerations , the awareness that I have of the fundamental nature of Judaism is opposed to the idea of a Hebrew State, with borders, an army and a certain temporal power, even the most modest.
