At the Alcobaca Monastery in Portugal, built in 1178, stands a doorway 2 meters high and only 32 cm wide, considered to be the narrowest doorway in the world.
Called the Porte Gras Porte, its curious design was intended, as its name suggests, to prevent monks who put on too much weight from passing through, as this door was the only entrance to the kitchen where food was served, so for them to enter, they had to lose weight as they were forbidden to eat outside the kitchen.
