  • Foxes are key to fighting the spread of Lyme disease

    The increase in Lyme disease is consistent with the decrease in the number of red foxes. And for good reason, this unloved of our countryside, still too often considered a pest, is hunted without respite. In France, hunters kill between 600 000 and one million foxes each year. While cases of Lyme disease continue to increase, and farmers deplore the ravages of rodents on their crops, it is high time to give the small fox the respect it deserves for its invaluable role in the regulation of ecosystems.
