My current interest is healthy eating.
Basically I make my meals from scratch except when going out.
Having a good balance of food keeps us healthy.
So each meal is a good chance to eat nutritiously.
Of course, it's not only nutritious but also delicious.
I especially mean food rich in antioxidant.
Aging starts from twenty...most people might not notice though.
There's an obvious difference between two types of people who are health consious and who are'nt.
There're three basic points:
The 1st is food rich in antioxidant.
The 2nd is food rich in omega-3-fatty acid.
The 3rd is food rich in low-glycemic index.
The measurement method depends on ORAC(Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity per 100g) which was reported by the US Department of Agliculture.
Olive oil has polyphenol and it's ORAC is 312.
If you add parsley to olive oil, the ORAC increases 684 and add basil to olive oil, the ORAC increases 766.
It means that combination draws each foods' potential power.
Red wine has polyphenol, especially anthocyanin and resveratol.
Compared to normal red wine, Caberne Sauvignon is superior.
If you drink at least a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon a day, you can avoid cancer ;-)
Same idea for green tea.
The ORAC for certain kinds of berries(like strawberries, blueberrie, rasberries) is 9090.
Strawberries have lots of polyphenol especially anthocyanin and pelargonidin-monoglucoside and they keep your brain young.
The most effective vegetables are broccoli and tomatoes and spices like garlic, turmeric, ginger, coriander and cinnamon.
Western countries are interested in the Mediterranean cuisine because it's proved there's low death rate from heart attack, cancer and Alzheimers.
So their cuisine is a good exsample for us.
My recommendations are curry, gazpacho,,Margherita pizza and ratatouille.
That's only a fraction of my interest in food.
Anyway, those are good excuses to have some(?...lotta ) wine and pizza, in a nutshell...(^-^)
Today's lesson was over.
