２０１３年に日本を訪れた外国人観光客が１０００万人を突破したそうです。
日本の”お・も・て・な・し”のおかげでしょうか？
日本の名所が増えたからでしょうか？
海外へのPR活動を頑張ったせいでしょうか？
円安で日本に来やすくなったからでしょうか？
東南アジアの人の所得が上がって海外旅行をする人が増えたからでしょうか？
格安航空が増えて移動コストが下がったからでしょうか？
実は、日本だけでなく、ほとんどの国への外国人観光客は増えているのです。
たぶん、何もしなくてもそこそこ増えていくでしょう。
まさに、高度成長時代の日本経済のようです。日本の周辺国は、この高度成長時代に突入しているのですから。
ところで、世界で一番外国人観光客が訪問している国は、フランスだそうです。ヨーロッパでは圧倒的で、年間の外国人観光客数は８０００万人を超えています。日本の８倍以上です。
なんで、フランスなの？？？
学生時代にフランスに行きましたが、いい思い出はありません。地下鉄の中では変なおじさんに罵られるし、ルーブル美術館への行き方を聞いてもみんな違うことを言うし、分かっていても英語を話そうとしないし・・・。
フランス人ハーフの滝川クリステルには申し訳ないけど、フランス人のお・も・て・な・しは最悪って感じです。
以前、フランスのニュースで、パリでは”もっと愛想よくしましょう運動”をやっていると言っていましたが、効果は上がっているのでしょうか？
私はフランス人に馴染めず、予定を一日繰り上げてロンドンに戻りました。
あっ、でも、シャルル・ドゴール空港はカッコ良かった。
当時は、SFの世界にいるように感じたシャルル・ドゴール空港。
More than 10 million foreign tourists visited Japan last year!
Is it because of Japan's "O Mo Te Na Shi"(warm hospitality) ?
Is it because of increase in visiting sights?
Is it because of effective PR activities overseas?
Is it because of the weaker yen which is beneficial for foreign visiters?
Is it because of increased income of people in the South East Asia?
Is it because of cheaper airfare?
The fact is that the numbers of foreign tourists are increasing in the most of other countries as well, not only in Japan.
You do not have to do anything in order to increase foreign tourists. They will come to Japan anyway.
Do you know what country foreign tourists visit most? It is France. More than 80 million foreigners visited France last year. It is 8 times more than Janan.
But why France???
I went to France when I was in college. I don't have any good memories in France. I was abused in the subway by some old guy, everybody told me different ways to go to the Louvre and they refused to speak English. When I questioned in English, they answered it in French.
I am very sorry to say that, Ms. Christel Takigawa who is a half French, there is no "O Mo Te Na Shi"(warm hospitality) in France.
I've seen the news on TV that they are doing the "be more friendly to foreigners campaign" in Paris. I don't think it's gonna work.
Why?
Because they are French!
So I shortened my stay in Paris by one day and went back to London.
The Charles de Gaulle International Airport was impressive though.
