Since my last post I:
- spent 3 days sight seeing in Kyoto.
- left Japan. Sad, I know. The flight back to America kind of sucked. I've always liked flying Continental airlines in the states however they are pretty crappy for international flights. And for some reason they flew us though New Jersey, I hate New Jersey.
- got screwed over by United Airlines and Ft Hood. This is the third time in about a month a different airline has pissed me off and I can't even count the number of time Hood has done crap like this to me. I'm still too annoyed to really talk about it. I should be on a flight to London right now to start my new job at MHS on Monday. Too bad Miki's ticket got messed up by the Ft Hood travel department. Now instead of getting there on time, I have to wait until Monday, call Ft Hood travel, try to get new tickets which will probably involve new orders or something equally painful. UGH, I'm getting all worked up again. I really need to stop thinking about this.
(not really about the show)

Before the show we met up with some girl from Tokyo who is going to the whole tour except for the Sapporo show. She is a fair bit older than most Mucc fans, in other words between Miki's age and my age. It turns out she found out about Mucc when she went to their 2 man with D'erlanger. She then mentioned she got to see D'erlanger live at the budokan the day after we left Tokyo. Of course, I immediately expressed my jealousy, since I have yet to catch D'erlanger live. Once again just before the doors opened we met up with Mikarin. I am beginning to think she is a drug dealer. Every time I see her (ok, so its only been twice) she is running off to meet someone and money is exchanged for items in her possession. Then again maybe she really was just selling the extra tickets we had.

(about the show)

Yukke got to wear his favorite Iron Maiden shirt I've seen him in three times now. Maybe the shirt is what made him a little more energetic than the first night. Tatsurou must have actually screwed up his foot pretty badly. They had a chair on stage for him to use when his foot hurt too bad to stand. Miya made noticeable mistakes in three songs, but they were all fairly minor. Once again, a verse from Cut the Mullet to describe Miya.

Do something about your long, filthy hair
It looks like a rat's nest
Do something about your mullet
Get out the hair clippers, jerk

The Set List was almost exactly the same as the first night. The only difference being during the "suion" intro they played a seizure inducing rave-esque light show. Then instead of "kare ga shinda hi" they played some other old jazzy song with Yukke on the upright bass. During the encore I guess they played "mae e" on the second night and "na mo naki yume" on the first night. I didn't notice the change though. I had even forgotten about "na mo naki yume" the first time around.

Songs they played both nights that I forgot to mention first time around:
game and chisana mado (both off shion)

This time we were standing about 7 or 8 rows back instead of right up front. Immediately in front of me was a midget French maid that had less rhythm than a drunken white guy. Originally to my left was a nice little girl who was happy dancing with herself, smiling a lot and singing along. She was cool, too bad she got pushed out of the way to make room for a handicapped 5 chick spinning mosh pit and a very hyper retard. We spent a fair amount of time making fun of all these people because that seemed like the kind and proper thing to do.

After the show, while Miki was using her drink coupon I had a couple girls come up to me and start asking me in passable English if I was at ToC. I told them yes, turns out they had been as well. During a couple of the Texas shows even. One of them and I were wearing the ToC Mucc tour shirt, thats what spawned the conversation. We chatted for a while and I guess they are going to nearly the whole tour. After we got outside, we ran into the same girl from yesterday. She still owed Mikarin money or something.
Doors Opened 6:00ish
Started at 6:30ish
Ended at 8:40ish

I've said it before but screw all the stadium crap. Small to Mid sized clubs is where its at. The sound is better, its more personal and you can see the band better. Of course having good ticket numbers and being taller than everyone else not on stage also helps you see better.

Band, etc:

Their current touring look has a very casual, more manly early Kagrra neo-japanesque (or whatever they called it) look to it. Tatsurou injured his foot early on in the set but did a good enough job of things anyway. Whenever I see Miya these days, I am reminded of the Wesley Willis song "Cut The Mullet."

"Get the rat's nest off your head
Get that crazy-ass mother off your skull
Take your ass to the barber shop
Tell the barber that you're sick of looking like an asshole"

If I didn't make it clear, HE HAS A FUCKING MULLET! Anyway, their back drop was pretty rad. It featured a couple weapon carrying Oni surrounding and looking down upon the Mucc logo.

Music, & stuff:

The focus of the music from the show was Shion. Off of it they played:

suion
fukurou no yurikago
nuritsubusu nara enji
semishigure
shion
shiva
fuzz
libra
flight (plus a couple others)

Off Gokusai they played:

utagoe
ryusei

Off Zekuu they played:

bozenjishitsu
ranchuu

Others:

na mo naki yume
suimin
kare ga shinda hi
And one of the classics from off Tsuuzetsu with a title I can never remember. It makes me want to dress up like a pirate whenever I hear it.

Audience:

Headbanging, crowd surfing and even a short lived mosh pit or two. This is all concert going practices I understand. None of that gay dance with the hands Sid/Phantasmagoria crap. I felt sorry for the girls in front of me though. I weigh twice what they do, and I kept getting slammed into them. Also my head seemed to be a magnet for crowd surfers' boots and one girl landed boob first on top of my head. That could not have felt good. While headbanging, Japanese girls seem to like to have something to hold on to, for some unfathomable reason. The rail in front of them, a chair if one is available, ME if one isn't. Maybe they are afraid they will lose their balance without something to hold?

After the show we met one of the girls using me for balance. Turns out she was buying one of the extra tickets Mikarin had. She seemed like a nice enough young lady. Then a couple guys came up to me to comment on my shirt. I was wearing my LEMONed I Scream Memorial t-shirt. They asked if I was at the memorial, then mentioned that they got to go the X-Japan reunion shows but didn't have the money to make it up to Tokyo for the hide Memorial Summit. They said that was the first time the got to do the X jump, Miki mentioned the last time she did it had been a long time ago. etc etc.
