I got tired of Naruto’s endless battles, so I started watching Hunter x Hunter.
In the riddle, “You can only save either your mother or your lover. Which one do you choose?” I find Mob’s answer (which was wrong)—“A lover can be replaced, so I’ll save my mother”—a bit off. My correct answer is, “My mother committed suicide, so she can’t be saved anymore. Therefore, I’ll save my lover.”
For the second riddle, “You can only save either your son or your daughter. Which one do you save?” the correct answer was “No answer,” but my correct answer is “I only have a son at this point. Therefore, I’ll save my son.”
I mentioned before that the answer to the ancient Greek riddle “Achilles and the Tortoise” is “If Achilles gets closer than the length of the tortoise’s body, he will catch up,” but it’s common for physical phenomena to provide solutions to thought experiments.
And so ended my happy childhood, which was spent entirely immersed in thought experiments.
