I achieved consecutive wins in Lichess tournaments at 2000+ rating and recovered my rapid rating to 1400. I considered switching to bullet or blitz, but decided to stick with rapid since it matches me most frequently.
Since there aren't many OTB rapid tournaments, and now that the local Japan Championship West Tokyo event has disappeared somewhere, I'm becoming increasingly distant from official JCF tournaments. However, I've reached a starting point where I can aim to improve my chess strength for the exhibition match held for the Olympiad two years from now (as usual, if you're a member and pay 5000 yen, you can play simultaneous games against top-tier players).
I heard JCF President Manabe was appointed to the lowest position required to host FIDE events, but when I asked on X, “So there was no qualified person before?”, I got no response.
Not just chess-piece-arranging clubs like the JCF, but Japanese people in general have this national trait of stubbornly clinging to masturbatory whims. While they're essentially easy to manipulate if you use jus in bello, they're also a foolish people who will mindlessly persist in stubborn, political-struggle-like bullying. Someday, I'm not entirely opposed to the idea of “killing them all myself.” But if we impose strict security measures and leave them be, they'll self-destruct. By approaching them opportunistically based on the organization's circumstances, it serves as useful networking. I'm confident that once I enter national politics, the JCF will become a solid voting bloc for me. For an annual fee of 6,000 yen.
