年6月27日に、長老派の貴族は造反し、監禁されていた8歳のジェームズ六世(James VI)がルースベン城(Castle
Ruthven)から逃走した。彼は、エリザベス一世(Elizabeth I)の後任となり、1603年にイギリスのジェームズ一世王(King
James I of England)になって、スコットランドとイギリスの両方を統治した。
ルースベン城(Castle Ruthven)は城というより、田舎の谷間に造られ道は1本しかない狩猟用の城で、貴族用の牢獄として利用されていたようです。

this day in 1583 James VI of Scotland escaped from Castle Ruthven at
the age of eight where he had been held prisoner by a group of rebel
Presbyterian nobles. He would become King James I of England in 1603,
succeeding Elizabeth I and ruled both Scotland and England.

く、奇異な問題)」を扱う世界初の女性向け悩み相談週刊雑誌「ザ・レディス・マーキュリー(The Ladies
Mercury)」をロンドンで発行された。
現代から見ても、かなり斬新な内容で、現在でも「Ladies Mercury」という言葉は、女性の性の悩み相談という代名詞になっている。
