Today, we had a candle ceremony. People from some kind of a band came and sang songs related to Christian. I am not a Christian, but it was interesting to see how much people are serious about their religions. In Japan, I would not see or experience such a thing in daily life. I don’t want to be offensive or criticize religions, but it was really new for me to see people singing along with their hands up and hugging each other. At first I thought, what are they doing? But I kind of understood their seriousness against religion.
I heard one that it was illegal to raise their right hand like the people at the ceremony today because it represents Nazi, and Himmler. It was a thing that I had no knowledge about. I should have basic knowledge about it.
After that, I played cards with my friends. During the game, Anna, told me an incident in Russia. Few women who were dancing at the stage in the church were executed. The reason was because it was taking as a protest against the countries politics. They have to stay in prison for 2 years even though they have children. All the people in Russia, including my friends thought it was ridiculous to do such a thing. If I were in Japan and just heard the news from the radio, I would have thought that people in Russia are crazy. But today, I had a chance to hear real voice from them, so I think it really made a difference in my prospective.
We also shared idea about gay and lesbian, but I’ll talk about it maybe tomorrow.
