ふと・・・ちょいと気になった言葉の話題です

結弦君の言葉の話題じゃなく

「おいおいそこか？」って話題だけど

There are lots to talk about though,

there was one word

which made Sarah think about

the value of Yuzu, , ,

訳していてちょっと悩んだのが
オリジナルは「philanthropist」という言葉の
「慈善家」のところ
この言葉では足りない
もっとなんかピンとくる言葉ない？って
悩んだの
似たような言葉で日本語でも使われる
チャリティがあるけど
チャリティはある意味単発的というか
緊急？一過性？
でもPhilanthropyは・・・なんというか
もっと広い？人類愛的な雰囲気があって
継続的というか正にライフワークという雰囲気？
日本語に「篤志家」ってあって
philanthropist＝篤志家にすることもあるけど
な～んか（個人的には）篤志家だと
心が・・・ちょっと足りない？的な気持ちを持っちゃって
This morning Sarah translated
the article of the Japan Times to Japanese.
While translating, one word,
Sarah was not able to find a word
which can perfectly express the meaning of
“philanthropist”.
There’s a word “Jizenka” in Japanese,
however, Sarah felt it not express the word enough.
philanthropy is a bit different from “charity”,
“philanthropy” also has a meaning of
“love of humanity”, so it must be not only
expressing charity actions, but
may have much deeper meaning, , ,

結弦君の言葉にも
16歳の頃からの「ライフワーク」ってあるし
実際に結弦君は十代の頃から
ず～っと色んな形で復興支援してきているし
勿論金額的にもかなりの額になっているけど
結弦君の大きな力は
やっぱりその存在そしてスケートによる演技で
人々の心を支えてくれるところだろうなって思うわけ
そう考えるとなんというか
やっぱり「慈善家」じゃ足りないって
philanthropyには

人類愛の意味も含まれていて
そういう言葉を使ってくれていることが
なんかいいなぁって思いつつ

悩んだという話題でした
Yuzu mentioned;
“Using skating to help communities recover

from disasters has been my life’s work since I was 16,”
And what Yuzu has kept doing is not
just a charity to temporary and urgently supporting some people, and
not only people who suffered by disasters or such but
Yuzu has been supporting and encouraging
all who knows him and his skating performances.
So what Yuzu has been doing must not be
“charity” but “love of humanity.”
Calling Yuzu as “philanthropist” is
somewhat made Sarah think about
what Yuzu has been doing years and years.
