What a proud news for the citizens of Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, as well as Japan.
I would like to express my deep respect, praise and gratitude once again to Hanyu-san who has set many milestones, including winning two consecutive Winter Olympics in Sochi and PyeongChang, for this valuable award.
I feel the beauty of Hanyu-san is not only his excellent technique, expressive ability and artistry, but also the fact that he has carried out his way of living wishing for people’s happiness and peace through his skating.
I believe that is the reason why he is loved and respected by people all over the world,
regardless of national borders or races.
He has been supporting and donating to disaster-stricken areas such ad the Great East Japan Earthquake, since he was a teenager.
I am deeply touched by his warmness.
