2018年７月２日、現プロフィギュアスケーターの羽生結弦は国民栄誉賞を受賞した。
23歳での受賞は、個人としては史上最年少だった。
On 2 July, 2018, the incumbent professional figure skater, Hanyu Yuzuru recieved the People's Honour Award.
At the age of 23, he is the youngest individual in the history to receive the award.
受賞に際し、彼は語った。
「これからも全力で、自分の名に、そしてこの国民栄誉賞という素晴らしい賞に恥じないスケートをすることが大事かなと思っています」
Upon receiving the award, he said:
"I think it's important that I cotinue to skate to the best of ability and to live up to my name and this great award of the People's Honour Award."
それから6年。
３月８日に宮城県利府町で行なわれた「羽生結弦 notte stellata（ノッテステラータ）2024」初日公演を取材した。
公演後の囲み会見で、テレビクルーのひとりが「宮城の後輩スケーターへの思いは？」と問うと、羽生はこう答えた。
「自分が納得できるクオリティーのスケートができているうちは正直、自分に集中しているだけで精いっぱい」

「僕自身が仙台からオリンピックに出場した偉大な先輩たちに憧れたように、僕なんかを見て、仙台からオリンピック出場やオリンピックでの優勝を目指して頑張ってくれる子が少しでも増えてくれたらいいなと思います。
そのためにも、まずは格好いい姿を見せたいなと思っています」
And he continued;
"Like when I was younger, I admired the great seniors who participated in the Olympics from Sendai, I hope that the number of juniors from Sendai who will look at me and do their best to participate or to win in Olympics from Sendai will increase.
Fot it, I want to showcase them myself of whom they would admire.
「格好いい姿を見せたい」って一言

技を徹底的に見て 自分のものにして更に進化させてきたんだろうし
基礎を学んだらきっとそうして自分で学んで頑張るのが上達の秘訣ってことなんだろうね

羽生はワンマンショーを何度も成功させている。
ショーに注ぐエネルギーの質と量については
「１日１回滑ればよかった時より、今の方が（心肺機能など）アスリートとしての能力は上がっていると思います。
出っ放しなので（笑）」と語っている。
Hanyu has successfully completed several solo shows.
Regarding the quality and quantity of energy he excerts to shows;
"I think my abilities (cardiopulmonary function, etc.) as an athlete have improved since my amature days when I only skated once a day.

私は「ノッテステラータ2024」の取材翌日、アイスリンク仙台に足を運んだ。
扉には「本日3/9（土） スケートの大会のため一般の方は入場禁止です」との張り紙があった。
そこでは「全国有望新人発掘合宿 東北・北海道ブロック選考会」が開催されていた。
羽生がこのリンクに多額の寄付をしているのは有名な話だ。
この場所があることで、救われている人々は多いだろう。

外の通路には、ウオーミングアップに励む小学生と思しきスケーターたちがいた。
笑顔の選手もいれば、緊張の面持ちの選手もいた。
私の目には、その光景が、キラキラと輝く満天の星空のように映った。
In the corridor off the rink, there are many skaters, probably they are primary school students.
