〈道場〉 松岡さんは平昌五輪の応援団長としていろんな選手と接してこられたと思いますが、特に印象に残っている選手はいますか？
〈松岡〉 皆さんそれぞれ素晴らしかったのですが、特にすごいと感じたのは、フィギュアスケートの羽生結弦さん。どこがすごいのかと言うと、一番は自分の心をきちんと言語化できるところです。ただ単に「頑張ります」ではなくて、 どのように頑張るかを具体的に伝えることができる。ひと言ひと言に駆け引きがあって、そこに学びがあるんですよ。
羽生さんは平昌五輪の約３か月前に靭帯を損傷する大きな怪我をされました。直前の大会を治療やリハビリのために欠場していてブランクがあった上に、痛み止めを打たないとジャンプも跳べない状態だったにもかかわらず、勝たないと意味がないとの覚悟で本番に臨み、２位と１０点以上の差をつけ、男子シングルで６６年ぶりとなる五輪２連覇を果たしたんです。
〈Michiba〉 Matsuoka-san, you were the cheerleader of PyeongChang Olympics, I think you had many opportunities to interact with various athletes, are there any athletes who particularly gave strong impression on you?
〈Matsuoka〉 Everyone was wonderful, who I found particularly amazing is a figure skater, Hanyu Yuzuru-san. What made me being amazed most is; he can verbalise what he has in his mind properly. Not just saying “I’ll do my best” but he can express how he would make efforts specifically. Each and every word of him, there’s his tactic and learning in it.
About three months before PyeongChang Olympics, Hanyu-san suffered the serious ligament injury. Due to its treatment and rehabilitation, he had to be absent from competitions, moreover, his condition was in the state which he couldn’t jump without taking painkillers. Even facing such situation, he determined that there would be no meaning unless he won, and he challenged, and he won by more than 10 points of margin from the second, and achieved the back-to-back Olympic title for the first time in 66 years in Men’s single.
〈道場〉 圧巻の演技でしたよね。
〈松岡〉 そして、優勝直後に、「どんなオリンピックでしたか」と尋ねてみると、彼は、「とにかく捨てて、捨てて、捨てる作業をしたオリンピックでした」と。

<Matsuoka> Soon after we noticed his win, I asked him; “What kind of Olympics was it, this time?”, he replied “Whatever, it was the Olympics in which I concentrated to giving up many things.”
One of them he gave up was his favourite “art”. Hanyu-san is the world first successful person of the quad-Loop, but he sealed it.
Then, another one he gave up was his “desire”, for example, he loves to play games, but since he got the injury, he stopped playing any games, and even he told he gave up “happiness.”
Then I asked what he could obtain from the Olympics, he said; “I got happiness.”
〈道場〉 んー、深い言葉ですね。
〈松岡〉 人は捨てることによって、掛け替えのないものを得られるんだなと。彼の感性と勝負感覚にはいつも勉強させてもらっています。こんなに誇らしい日本人はそういないですよ。２３歳にして既に男の中の男です。
<Michiba> Hmmm, a profound remark.
<Matsuoka> I learnt by giving up something, people can obtain something irreplaceable. I have been learning lots from his sensibility and sense of winning. There are not many Japanese persons we can be proud of, he was just 23 years old at that time, but already he was the man of men.
「幸せを削って」って言葉、結構衝撃だった方々もいらしたようだけど
うん、絶対に結弦君は削ったら、それ以上の幸せを手にする人なんだって
サラは勝手に信じている！！！
辛い想い、たくさんあるけど、でも、その中から結弦君は幸せへの道を探し出す天才なのよ。
天才だけど、でもそれは天から降ってくる幸せじゃなくって
結弦君が自ら「血と汗と涙」で手繰り寄せる幸せ。
そして、そんな結弦君の姿に、あ、そうだ、うじうじしていちゃいけない
幸せの道を探さなきゃって気持ちももらえちゃうのよね、で
頑張るぞって、結弦君のお写真に誓う、そんな日々が結弦君との出会いから続いている。
頑張る力を日々、もらっているんだわ。
Yeah, Yuzu is "GIFTed", even giving up lots happiness, facing to the biggest difficulity, but he has the power to find the path to "happiness."
Watching Yuzu, yes, we are encouraged since we believe he can obtain happiness.
