カワセミさんの羽って、タマムシの色と同じ原理。
普通の「色」と違って、シャボン玉みたいに光の位置で
色が変わる「構造色」
Wings of Kingfishers are like the surface of compact disks or soap bubbles, depends on the position of a light, it colour changes;
it’s structural coloration.
普通の「色」って、その物体がいろんな色を吸収して、
で、吸収されなかった光が反射して、そのものの「色」として見えるけど、
カワセミさんの羽は、見る角度で色が変わるのよね。
Normally, “colours” are seen when a object absorb many colours, a colour which is not absorbed reflects and this reflected colour is the colour of the object.
But like the peacock tail feathers Kingfishers’ wings
change colours according to the position you look them at.
だから、宝石のように輝いて見えるんだろうね、カワセミさんって。
That may be why Kingfishers wings are shining like jewels.

長いしっぽで、胴体だけで比べたら、スズメさんの1/3ぐらい？
Long-tailed Tits are very small bird.
Their bodies may be about 1/3 of its of a sparrow.
カワセミさんは、お顔より長いくちばしだけど
エナガさん、おちょぼ口～！
Kingfisher got long a bill but Long-tailed Tit got
such a small bill!
