I heard that the original film was more than four hours long. But because it is way too long to be commercially successfull, it was split into two different films and released separately in different times. And I saw the first one.
I went to see it because Ernest Guevara (che) is played by Venecio Del Toro who is one of my favorite actors. Also the girl that I am hitting on said that she would like to see it. so.. :D.
This is kind of a biographic film about the person whose face is extremely famous. But what he has done is only known by far less number of people.
I did not like this film very much, to be honest. This film seems to have confused with if they want to be commercially successful or artistically succesfull. If they would like to be commercially successful, I guess they should put more explanations into the film in stead of trying to stick to what Che wrote in his diary.
The theatre was completely full. Obviously they are being commercially successful. But I could hear people snoring pretty loudly during the second half of the film. And I do not blame whoever that was snoring. Because it got tedious and I wondered where the film was going.
Che is still a revolutinary icon. No doubt about it. And it is probably meaningful to know about him and what he was trying to accomplish when the execessive dependance on free market economy is collapsing all around the world. But wathing this film does not tell me why he has become such a legendary figure, why he threw away his life as a doctor and became a fighter.
This film could have been better. But Venecio was cool. That is only good part about this film from my perspective.
