NATO is planning to set up its office in Japan. The US is boastful about its Indo-Pacific strategy. These attempts to contain China and Russia are ridiculous and absurd, which indicates dysfunctional bankrupted national security planning of the West.

[Jens Stoltenberg, Secretary General of NATO and Fumio Kishida, Prime Minister of Japan, January 2023]

China and Russia are geographically adjacent and politically and economically united. Their relations is "rock solid". They can trade, communicate and exchange goods freely without being interfered by foreign powers. China and Russia are land-connected with Asian and African countries too.

On the other hand, the US, UK, EU, Australia, Japan and India are geographically remotely separated by oceans and have conflict of interests politically and economically each other.

It is quite easy for China and Russia to disrupt maritime exchange among the US, UK, EU, Australia, Japan and India as well as maritime exchange between these countries and the rest of the world by submarine assaults and hypersonic missile menace.

The 20th century Heartland theorist Halford Mackinder, who is still admired like a god by UK and the US's geopolitical strategists, once advocated that UK, the US and European great powers could surround and contain Eurasian powers of Russia and China.

[Halford Mackinder's Heartland Theory]

Halford Mackinder was wrong in assuming UK and the US's command of the world sea would continue forever. Once UK and the US's command of the world sea is lost, the US, UK, EU, Australia, Japan and India would become isolated, separated and divided pieces of land.

It is estimated that China will deploy up to 400 warships in the coming years – up from current 340. Russia has more than 290 warships. The US has under 300 warships. Sino-Russian fleet will be double the size of US fleet soon. Moreover, both China and Russia have anti-ship hypersonic missiles that the US doesn't. Sino-Russian fleet will overwhelm the US fleet in quantity as well as in quality. [1]

China will have 76 submarines by 2030. The US will have 66 subs of all types by 2030. Russia has 49 submarines. Sino-Russian submarine combined fleet will be double the size of US submarine fleet. Sino-Russian submarine fleet will dwarf US submarine fleet. [2]

In addition, Iran will join China and Russia. Iranian Navy sent its missile destroyer and forward base ship to Brazil in March 2023. [3]

On the other hand, Western countries' navies are in a shabby condition. For example, because of shortage of money and so many mechanical failures, UK decided to partially break down aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales to use its parts for maintaining its sister ship HMS Queen Elizabeth. UK Navy is as wretched as UK itself. [4][5]

UK, Australia and Japan are island countries. They are well within the ranges of China and Russia's ballistic and hypersonic missiles. Menace of missiles can disrupt and halt their maritime transportation.

EU is within the range of Russian ballistic and hypersonic missiles too.

India is importing Russian weapons and is a member of SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) led by China and Russia. So, India will never become seriously hostile against Russia and China. In case India should become hostile, India would be encircled and isolated by Himalayan mountain ranges, Indian Ocean, Pakistan and Myanmar.

The US and Canada can be isolated by Atlantic and Pacific oceans, Arctic Sea and Caribbean Sea. China and Russia's submarine assaults and hypersonic missiles can disrupt and halt the US and Canada's maritime transportation.

Furthermore, China and Russia can support Mauritius’s sovereignty claim over Diego Garcia in Indian Ocean.

In 1965, UK illegally separated Diego Garcia from Mauritius and, then, the US built naval and air bases there.

Mauritius is demanding the return of Diego Garcia. In February 2019, The International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled that the United Kingdom must transfer the islands to Mauritius. In May 2019, the United Nations General Assembly affirmed the decision of the ICJ. [6]

Losing its military bases in Diego Garcia, the US's Indo-Pacific strategy will be broken apart.

In addition, by fall, a pro-China Japanese government will be formed based on the Japan-China Parliamentary Friendship Association, which will not allow or close NATO's Tokyo office, destroying NATO's eastward folly into Asia-Pacific and interference in regional affairs.

Finally, Asian and African countries can reject visiting of military ships of the US, UK, EU, Australia and Japan.

For example, a US Coast Guard ship was denied port call in Solomon Islands in 2022. [7]

The US, UK and EU must abandon their futile imperial thinking of containing China and Russia. They must admit it is already the multipolar world. Otherwise, they will get destructive and devastating consequences.

Thank you.
