Hello INDY FOLDER Students and everyone else!!

It's 忘年会 season so I know everyone is busy! I'd just like to wish you all a happy holiday and New Year. 良いお年を。 Also I'd like to apologize (Very Sorry) in advance for not being able to attend the Christmas party this Saturday. I had plans to go SNOWBOARDING in 富良野 before the date of the party was set. Anyhow, I'm stoked （＝凄く楽しみにしてる） and will be tearing it up （訳せない！I'm sure there is no Japanese phrase that is close enough to add here so please ask me in class or ask a native English speaker!）　on the slopes （＝ゲレンデー）!!

The mountains are good in 北海道 and some other parts of Japan but they don't quite compare to some of the great mountains we have in CANADA. In particular, Whistler, BC (home of the 2010 Winter OLYMPICS!!). I recommend all who love skiing, snowboarding, etc., to go there at least once. You'll need a good 3 days at least just to cover most of the courses.

クリスマスまであと少し…

こんにちはインディーフォルダ横浜校スタッフS田です

毎日寒い日が続きますが皆様風邪などひいていないでしょうか？

先日我が家はこたつを出しましたうたた寝しないように注意です

いよいよ来週はクリスマスですね

横浜校ではオルゴールのクリスマスソングが流れています

耳を澄ませて聞いてみてくださいね

横浜駅周辺はイルミネーションがとてもキレイです

西口にある大きなクリスマスツリーが、変わったデザインだなと

思っていたら、2009年の開港150年記念のイメージで

船を表現しているらしいです

普段ダイヤモンド地下街を通って帰られる方も

是非ロータリー側を通って見てみてくださいね

グローバルのスタッフは仮装が必須なので

今から何を着ようか考え中です

Ask Me Where I'm From

Hello, this is Allan from indy Folder.

I teach English Conversation at the YokohamaSchool.

I have a question for you:

Do you know anyone from Scotland

Well, you do now because I'mfrom Scotland. I'm

Scottish.

Sometimes, Japanese people ask me where I'm from,

and I say イギリス. Then they start asking me about

England!

And, well......I get upset.

イギリス really means the U.K. (United Kingdom)

or Great Britian.

In fact, the full name is;

The United Kingdom of Great Britian And Northern Ireland

= Wow Too long

イギリス (the U.K.) is made of four smaller countries;

England, Scotland, Northern Ireland & Wales.

And there is a verse(韻文) to help us remember.

"England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales,

All tied up in monkeys tails"

So, you see イギリス is country, but also

countries: イングランド、スッコトランド、北アイルランド　

& ウェールズ

It's complicated, and sometimes I wish it were simple.

Like; country, Japan and all people together,

Japanese.

Anyway, I hope I can meet you one day at indy Folder.
