How you get the ball to thepocket depends on several factors:✓ Do you throw a straight or hook ball?✓ How much hook does your ball have?✓ Are you a righty or a lefty?✓ How hard do you throw the ball?In the following sections, we break down the steps for throwing strikes byhand (right or left) and type of throw (straight or hook), so skip to the sectionthat describes you. If you’re not sure which type of throw you have,head to Chapter 5; there we guide you in determining your bowling form.Note: What we tell you in the following sections are merely guidelines.Try them out by taking a few practice throws and see how they work foryou. If you don’t hit the pocket, move your starting position over a little tothe left or a little to the right and try again. Still not working? Move a littlemore or change your target arrow (or do both) and then try again. Keepgoing with this trial-and-error process until you find the starting spot andtarget arrow that works for your particular throw.
