   ポーシャがアントニオーの胸の肉1ポンドを切り取ることを認めます。シャイロックは「この上なく公正な判官さま」とポーシャを褒め称えて、ナイフを片手にアントニオーに近づきます。

するとポーシャが言います。

第四幕第一場

Tarry a little; there is something else.

ちょっと待て。まだ言うことがある。

This bond doth give thee here no jot of blood;

この証文は汝に血の一滴も与えはしない。

The words expressly are 'a pound of flesh:'

書かれている言葉は「肉1ポンド」だ。

Take then thy bond, take thou thy pound of flesh;

それでは汝の証文を手に取り、汝の肉1ポンドを切り取れ。

But, in the cutting it, if thou dost shed

だが、切り取る際に、もし汝がキリスト教徒の

One drop of Christian blood, thy lands and goods

血を一滴流させたならば、汝の土地と財産は、

Are, by the laws of Venice, confiscate

ヴェニスの法により、国家ヴェニスに

Unto the state of Venice.

没収される。

　「これが法律か」と愕然とするシャイロックにポーシャが告げます。「証文通りの正義を求めたのはお前だ」と。
