Lu (1985) によるオオメメダイ科 Ariommatidae のマルイボダイ Ariomma indica（Cubiceps indicus として）の仔稚魚の記載がある（日本産稚魚図鑑第二版（2014）には不掲載）。
ただし、一番下の稚魚については、背・臀鰭の基底数と鰭条数が一致していない（ただし、描かれた鰭条の数はマルイボダイのそれと一致している）のが気になる。
