インドの南西沿岸で1971～1975年に採集された底生魚類の仔稚魚の種（形態記載），分布，豊度に関する博士論文である。
日本産稚魚図鑑初版（1988）の翌年に発表されたもの。
下記の異体類を主体とする底生魚類の仔稚魚について，詳細な記載がされており，多数の正確なスケッチも載っている。
ヒトスジエソ［アカエソ属］やテナガミズテング［ミズテング属］など，日本産稚魚図鑑（2014）にまったく引用・参照されてない種・発育段階の記載・スケッチがあり，際めて貴重な情報である。なお，●付きの種は日本産種と共通である。
