最近，インドにおいて養殖対象種としてアジ科のマルコバン（Abdul Nazar et al., 2012），コガネマルコバン（Ranjan et al., 2018） が取り上げられ，種苗生産試験結果を記載した論文に卵，仔稚魚の写真が出ている。
本州沿岸でのコガネマルコバンの卵，仔稚魚の出現は極めて稀だと思われるが，果たしてマルコバンとの識別はできるだろうか。

ちなみにコガネマルコバンは，岩槻ら（2000）によって日本から初めて記録された種であり，沖縄県栽培漁業センターで種苗生産試験が行われたことがある（木村ら, 2008）。
