#3 Anchoring bias: This bias occurs when people rely on pre-existing information they hear when making decisions. For example, if you wanted to buy a T-shirt that costed 10,000 yen, you would think it was expensive, but if the price was discounted from 20,000 yen to 10,000 yen, you might consider it reasonable and feel lucky! This is one impact of the anchoring bias. It can be used in negotiations or in the marketing field, so we have to protect ourselves against this bias by considering all side of an issue.
The second strategy to overcome our biases is to find the triggers that allow us to be trapped by them. One common trigger is physical stress, for example tired, sleepy or hugry, and the other one is having mental stress from busy or tough work or from difficulties in relationships between colleagues or family members. If you can notice such triggers, you might be able to avoid your cognitive bias.
