apartment, but didn’t stop, just when I got off at the
next address, the driver answered to keep on the school bus as it is.
私は運転手に私のアパートを通過する時、停まるように 頼んだが、停まらず、まさに私が次の住所で降りかけた 時、運転手がこのまま乗り続けるよう答えた。
（46）After a while, when the school bus stopped at high school of Utah, George came in and then asked the driver my apartment address for me.
しばらくして、スクールバスがユタ州の高校に停まる と、ジョージが入って来て、私の代わりに運転手に私の アパートの住所を頼んだ。
（47）The next day, when I showed the driver my address that my parents wrote, the driver asked me if I remembered it.

（49）Because the children used English word ‘address’ on the school bus, I remembered it, but I didn’t even know Japanese word ‘住所.’
スクールバスで児童たちが英単語「address」を使って いたから、私は覚えたが、私は「住所」という日本語す ら知らなかった。
（50）Even though it was only the second year, also my parents were completely Americanized, and seemed to think of only ‘アドレス’ as the Japanese translation
of ‘address.’
まだ2年目だったのに、両親もすっかりアメリカナイズ されて、「address」の和訳は「アドレス」しか考えつ かないようだった。
