Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

天国の少し手前に、「虹の橋」と呼ばれている場所があります。
地上に生きている人と寄り添い暮らしていた動物たちは
死を迎える時、「虹の橋」のふもとへ向かうのです。
そこには草地や丘があり、緑がいっぱいで、動物たちはそこで走りまわり、幸せに楽しく遊んでいるのです。
そこには、いつもたくさんの食べ物と綺麗な水があり、優しい太陽の日差しに溢れています。暖かくてのんびりと、そして疲れたら「天国への樹」と呼ばれる木の下で休むのです。
病気をしていた子も、歳をとった子も、元気いっぱいの姿に戻り、
傷ついて苦しんだ子もすっかり元気になって元通り。
かつての地上での良き日と思い出が夢のように甦るのです。
虹の橋では、みんな幸せに暮らしているのですが、
たったひとつ気がかりなことがありました。
それはかつて共に暮らし、愛する人がここにいないという寂しさでした。
動物たちが一緒に遊んでいた、そんなある日のこと。
ある子が立ち止まり、遠くを見つめます。
その瞳は、キラキラと輝き、からだは喜びに震えはじめます。
突然、その子は仲間達を残して、緑の草原を駆け出しました。
とても速くて、速くてそれはまるで風のようです。
その子の視線の先にいたのは、
共に過ごし、愛し合い、寄り添っていたあなたの姿でした。
虹の橋のふもとで再び出会うことが出来たのです。
