This week was my son's first sports day at elementary school. Unfortunately, it had to be postponed due to rain on Tuesday
, which left the school grounds damp. However, it finally took place on Thursday morning. I was really impressed by all the dancing and the children cheering for their teams!

今週は息子の小学校の運動会でした。残念ながら、火曜日に雨が降ったため、運動会は延期されましたが、木曜日の朝に開催されました。ダンスや子供たちがチームを応援する姿に、本当に感動しました
In the UK, sports days are typically held at the end of the school year, near July. The biggest difference is that UK sports days are almost entirely focused on sports, with almost no dancing. Elementary schools, or primary schools as we call them in the UK, usually hold their sports days on a Friday afternoon. Events often include the egg and spoon race (carrying an egg on a spoon as fast as you can), the wheelbarrow race (where two students work together; one is the "barrow" and moves forward on their hands while their partner holds their legs and runs), and the three-legged race. I actually won the three-legged race in primary school!
In this race, two runners have one of their legs tied together, so they must run in unison. The trick is to build up speed gradually rather than trying to run fast from the start.
