I've been wanting to whiten my teeth for some time now, but the days just keep slipping away. The main issue is the 48-hour period after the procedure where I have to be cautious about what I eat to prevent staining.
Thankfully, drinks are still allowed. I prefer to go my own way rather than follow the crowd, so I can easily swap red wine for white, coffee and teas for hot water.
Unfortunately, my family's favorite dishes like curry, tomato sauce, ketchup, kimchi, and chili sauce are all off-limits during this time.
Planning for teeth whitening is essential, but when I actually sit down to do it, I find myself hesitating. It's not a problem for breakfast and lunch, but dinner is where things get tricky. If I'm not careful, my husband might whip up his signature dishes with turmeric and tomato sauce, so I absolutely must fend for myself those two days.
On day one, I'll opt for pasta without tomato sauce and a salad with French dressing.
For day two, perhaps a white stew or a doria with a white sauce base.
Tofu may seem like a safe choice, but the polyphenols in soybeans can also cause staining, so it's best to steer clear post-whitening.
I'm starting to feel confident that I can handle this. They say writing things down helps solve problems, and it seems to be true.
