赤き実を 傾き照らす 夏の陽の そこはかと無く 秋めききたる

昨日墓参りの後午後も遅く縁戚を訪ねたり
訪ぬる先も老人二人なれば庭の手入れ行き届かざり
ブルーベリーの鉢植ひねこびた実を僅かにつける
夏の陽は傾(かたぶ)きて今は秋の気配を漂はす
Yesterday, after visiting my family temple, I visited my relatives in the late afternoon.
They were an elderly couple just like us, so their garden was not well maintained.
The potted blueberry plant in the garden had only a few twisted berries.
The summer sun is now inclining and there are signs of autumn in the air.
