Today, I had the pleasure of attending an event hosted by the Hiroshima Phoenix Toastmasters Club. With over 40 attendees, the event was filled with lively discussions and Q&A sessions, leaving me thoroughly impressed by the value of such Toastmasters events. Unfortunately, I had to miss the latter half of the Table Topics session due to other commitments, but I made sure to share what I learned from Professor Robert Jacobs of Hiroshima University's lecture on "Global Hibakusha" with my husband. We enjoyed a late lunch while reflecting on how few people, both in Japan and globally, are aware of these important issues.
I am truly grateful to O-san for inviting me to this event. Living within the confines of what we already know can be limiting, and today was a stark reminder of that. It was a bit shocking, but it also inspired me to think more about the future of Japan and the world. The first half of the day was intellectually enriching, and the second half was a delightful outing. All in all, it was a great day.
By the way, the book is currently only available in English, but a Japanese translation is expected to be released around March next year. I highly recommend it to anyone interested.
本日は広島フェニックストーストマスターズクラブ（上級クラブ）のイベントに参加させていただきました。国内外の４０名以上の参加者による活発な意見交換や、質疑応答があり、『トーストマスターズのこういうイベントはとてもタメになるなぁ』と満足しました。後半のテーブルトピックスセッションには用事があり参加できませんでしたが、広島大学教授のロバートジェイコブ先生の「THE GLOBAL HIBAKUSHA」早速、夫にレクチャーで学んだことを報告。こういうことを国民が、いえ、世界中の人々のどれだけが知っているのか？という話をしながら遅いお昼をいただきながら語り合いました。Oさんに誘っていただいたこと、本当に感謝します。知っていることしか知らないで生活しているので、ものすごくショックでしたが、日本の未来、世界の未来についても少し考えようという気持ちになりました。本日の前半は中身が濃くて、後半は外出を楽しみました。う〜〜ん、いい日だった。ちなみに現在は英語版だけですが、来年3月くらいには日本語訳も発売される様です。興味のある方、ご一読を。
