L&CLというサイトに私達のクラブの告知画像が無断使用されていて、その数日後websiteのデザインを承りますのようなメールが英文で届いたので、サイバー警察にメールした。
翌日、
-対象手続以外の申請・届出について
警察行政手続サイト上で対象手続以外の手続の申請・届出を行った場合、書面で申請・届出先警察署へ申請・届出していただく必要があります。
というメールが届いた。
最寄りの警察は市外になるので、メールを受信拒否し、放置しておいた。
今日、知り合いの画像が海外の無断で使用されたという書き込みを読んだので、思い出して、L&CLにアクセスしてみた。
すると我々のサイトの画像はすでに消えていて、検索しても出てこなくなった。良かった！と思ったが、L&CLのサイトが全くわけのわからないサイトなのが気になる。こんなこと情報提供しても迷惑なだけなのかなと思いつつ、サイバー犯罪課に電話をしてみた。
案の定、資料を持って近くの警察へ行ってくださいとのこと。親切な口調ではあったが、私の電話は、とても迷惑なんだろうということは感じ取れたので、丁寧にお礼を言って電話を切った。
画像を盗むなんて簡単にできてしまうのだから、いちいち構ってられないのはわからなくもないが、日本の学習サイトをなぜ英語サイトに載せている？
しかも教室の説明など何もない。各々の教室のロゴを載せているだけだ。明らかにおかしいから、引っかかる人もいないか・・・と自分に言い聞かせて、これ以上のことはしないことにした。みなさん、お気をつけ下さい。
A few days ago, I noticed that an image from my club was being used without permission on a website called L&CL. Shortly after, I received an email in English offering website design services. I reported this to the cyber police. The next day, I received an email stating:
- For applications and notifications not related to the target procedures
If you apply or notify procedures not related to the target procedures on the police administrative procedures site, you will need to apply or notify the police station in writing.
Since the nearest police station is outside the city, I blocked the email and ignored it.
Today, I read a post by an acquaintance whose image was used without permission overseas, and it reminded me to check L&CL again. I found that our site’s image had been removed and was no longer searchable. I felt relieved but still concerned about the suspicious nature of the L&CL site. I wondered if it would be a bother to provide information, but I decided to call the cybercrime division. As expected, they told me to take the materials to the nearest police station. The officer was polite, but I could sense that my call was a nuisance. I thanked them and hung up.
I understand that they can’t handle every case of image theft, but why is a Japanese learning site featured on an English site with no explanations of the classes? It only displays the logos of each class. It’s obviously strange, so maybe no one will fall for it... I told myself this and decided not to pursue the matter further. Everyone, please be careful.
