English version of the post about my 111th Musokai Karate solo training, "鼻唄を歌える型とは(#111)".

My son caught a cald. I had been always with my son this weekend. Fortunately, he got better on Sunday.
After my son fell asleep, I practiced 30 minutes Karate training to spend quality time on my own.

1. Bo(long stick) practice

Practiced following menu as if they were promotion test in front of shihan Arakaki.(Last night I was really inspired by news of my seniors' promotions in Headquarter Dojo in US.)

・Step-in Kesa-uchi strike,
・Sequence from Kesa-uchi to Ishizuki-uchi to Maki-uchi to Kesa-uchi agin,
・Endless Ura-uchi (right to left to right...),
・Double strikes of Kesa-uchi strike, and,
・Tokumine-no-kun kata 8 times.

Focusing on Bo's bouncing and falling.
Bo strikes seemed get sharper than before.

2. Karate practice

Kihon (Basic techniques);
・Tsuki(punch)s on Naifanchi stance
・Tsukis on Shumoku stance
・Mae-keri(front kick)s on Shumoku stance

After Bo training, tsuki and kicks got sharper than usual.

Katas practice;
・Naifanchi kata 7 times
・Channan kata 5 times
・Rohai kata 5 times

Focusing on;
・On-and-off of "Gamaku" in Naifanchi,
・Activating iliac muscles in Channan, and,
・Falling freely and functioning latissimus dorsi muscles in Rohai.

While practicing katas, I found the meaning of an advice from one of my senior Musokai Karate practioner, Y-san.

Y-san advised me to relax and hum while kata practicing.

I had tried but couldn't.
Humming while kata practicing was quite difficult for me.

But this time, I realized the meaning of humming advice.

What I should do is not to try to hum in tough situation.
Instead, I should make myself relax by relying on free fall and functions of some large muscles so that I can even hum.

Body control relying on free fall and functions of some large muscles, should be the very secret of masters' Karate. Humming is just a check method of it.

Not to try to hum, but to rely on free fall and specific large muscles' functions.

Sure I couldn't yet.
But the pathway to improvement got visible.

Just 30 minutes solo training.
But Musokai Karate always give me new findings.
