English version of "弾め棒よ、弾め!", which is my Japanese-written post about 109th alone training of Musokai Karate.

This morning, Mt.Tsukuba-san could be viewed from parking lot.

Mt. Tsukuba-san reminds me of a samurai load, Sukemasa Ota(1522-1591) ,who was once a load of here (Iwatsuki) but had to leave to the foot of that mountain by his enemy's invasion.

Sukemasa was known for his bravery and wisdom.
While he couldn't defeat his enemy, Hojo clan who had 10-times-bigger power than Sukemasa , he often repeled their invasion by his excellent tactics and innovation. Even after he had to abandon his land, he made a comeback at the foot of Mt. Tsukuba-san by his guts and wisdom.Finally he saw the collapse of his enemy.

He is who I respect most in Japanese history.

Sukemasa is said to had preferred short spear.
Probably short spear suited his battle commanding style. I often stood at front line.

Bo(stick) of Okinawa Karate is supposed to be a substitute of spear and relatively short as spear.

If Sukemasa saw Musokai's Bo-jutsu (stick techniques), would he like it? I think yes.

********

This morning I focused on a Bo's basic operation, which was a sequence of (a)Kesa-uchi strike -> (b)Ishizuki-uchi strike -> (c)Maki-uchi strike -> (d)Kesa-uchi strike.

Bo have to bounce immediately after Kesa-uchi strike.

Points are;
・to shift mode of hands in an instant,
One hand:Kirite mode to reverse Kirite
The other hand: reverse Kirite to normal Kirite
・to support hands' mode change by back, more precisely by Latissimus dorsi.

Bounce!
Bo, Bounce!

The result was not bad.
I heard air-cutting sound when Bo bounced strike after Kesa-uchi for the first time.

Feeling of Bo's bouncing seems help Tsuki(punch) that has to be snappy and heavy.
Today's my tsuki after Bo training was not bad.

2/3 of Today's 15 minutes training was occupied by this basic Bo training.

As for rest 1/3, I practiced;
・Tokumine-no-kun kata 3 times
・Naifanchi kata twice
・Front kick in Naifanchi stance

So much for Today.
