「あらすじ」
高道路。カフカの隣にすわった少女は眠り込んでしまう。ボートネックの襟からブラジャーの紐がのぞいている。カフカは その紐の先の、シャツの下で上下する柔らかい身体を想像する。もしかして、この少女はカフカの姉ではないかと思う。。
28 The girl's soon fast asleep, and as the bus sways through each curve her head leans against my shoulder, finally coming to a rest there. Mouth closed, she's berathing quietly through her nose, the breath grazing my my shoulder at a regular beats. I look down and catch a glimpse of her bra strap through the collar of her crew-neck shirt, a thin, cream-coloured strap. I picture the delicate fabric at the end of that strap. The soft breast beneath. The pink nipples taut under my fingertips. Not that I'm making any effort to imagine akk this, but I can't help it. And-- no surprise - I get a massive hara-on. So rigit it makes me wonder how any part of young body could ever get so rock hard.

28 Just then a thought hit me. Maybe--just maybe--this girs's my sister. She's about the right aga. Her odd looks aren't at all like a girl in the photo, but you can't always cound on that. I stare at her chest. As she breathes, the rounded peaks move up and down. like the swell of waves, somehow remindign me of rain falling softly on a broad stretch pf sea. I'm the lonely voyager standing on the deck, and she's rge sea. The sky is blanket of grey, merging with the grey sea on the horison. It's hard to tell the differnece between sea and sky. Between voyager and sea. Between reality and the working of heart.
The girl wears two rings on her fingers, either of which is a wedding or engagement ring, just cheap things you find as thsose little boutiques girls shop at. Her fingers are long and thin but look strong, the nails are short and nicely trimmed with a light pink varnish. Her hands are resting lightly on the knewws thrust out from her miniskirt. I want to touch those hands, but of course I don't. Asleep, she looks like a young child. One pointy ear peeks out from the strands of hair like a little mushroom, strangely fragile.
I shut my book and look for a while at the passing cenery. But very soon, before I realise it, I fall asleep myself.

彼女の手の指には指輪が二つはめられている。結婚指輪とか婚約指輪とかじゃない。若者向けの雑貨店で売っっている安物の指輪だ。 爪は短く、きれいに手入れされている。淡いピンクのマニキュア。その手はミニスカートから突き出した膝のうえに軽く載せられている。 僕はその手に触れたいと思う。でももちろん実際にそんなことはしない。眠っている彼女は小さな子供のように見える。髪の間から、尖った 耳の先がキノコのようにのぞいている。その耳は不思議に傷つきやすそうな印象を与える。
僕は本を閉じ、窓の外の風景をしばらく眺める。それから知らないうちにまた眠りこんでしまう。
カフカの語彙 01-21
『海辺のカフカ』を読む。時間の 1/3 は辞書を引いている。気になった言葉（語彙・成句）の辞書を作ろう。
① まず、英文として確かめた語彙。わからなかった、たぶんこうだろうと思ってたが確認した語彙。
② 和文英訳としての語彙・表現。それを日本語ではどう表現するのだろう。
例： sunstroke, food poisoninng は、英文を読んでいるときは文脈からわかる。だが、「日射病」「食中毒」を英語でなんと言うのだろうか。
③ 村上春樹の日本語。例： 風景描写、心理描写、会話、などでうまいなあ、と思った表現も蓄積していこう。
④ 仮説の検証：これは、多読ではなく一行一行の精読である。精読をたくさん積み重ねると、記憶はどうなるのだろうか。
