and worries there——when you are
thousands of miles away, a grown-up
person, all of a sudden the image
of all this will come back to you
in a moment of severe fright.

このような場所は一夜にして成るものではあ
りません．それらの数々は何百年もの涙と捧
げた祈りの賜物なのです．このような礼拝堂
で跪き祈りを捧げれば、そして苦労や心配事
をその身から取って、そこに預けたというな
ら、そこから何千キロと離れたところにいよ
うとも、大人になってから、激しい恐れを抱
いた瞬間、そこで祈ったときのその光景が蘇
ってくるのです．
