どうも咽っぽくて実に弱った．これが人間の飲む煙草
というものである事はようやくこの頃知った．

I was originally somewhat troubled by such exhalations for
they made me choke, but I learnt only recently that it was the
smoke of burnt tobacco which humans like to breathe.

始めのころはボクは、このような発散物にむせび苦しめられ、
困り果てていたのだが、近頃、ようやくそれが、人間が好んで
呼吸する燃やされた煙草の煙であることがわかった。

Au début, j'été mis en difficulté pour ce qui se dégageaient.
Récemment, j'ai enfin compris que cela était la fumée que
l'homme adore.
