It
is so amazing how your eyes can perceive a lot of images and even create a
whole lot of unimaginable thoughts playing around your brain. This is the
primary reason why I am obsessed in watching movies that depicts fiction and
wild imagination from the most talented cinematographers and writers nowadays.
There I figured why I really love sleeping- it is with the hope to dream and be
part of an impossible realm where I can control and I can be someone totally
different from the real world.
The Avatar which was aired in the
year 2009, where 3d technology was not yet available, is yet the top grossing
science fiction movie to beat since the invention of movies available on
theaters
But before I tackle on the reasons why I think this movie was
extravagant, let me give you a short synopsis of the movie.
Marine Jack Sully,
a paraplegic (paralysis of both
lower limbs due to
spinal disease or injury) joined the mission to explore the distant
world of Pandora.
The people from this world is totally alienated if compared
to ours (refer to the images below).
Jack will transform to their kind to be
part of their world. Avatar is a hybrid
creature, composed of human and alien DNA and
remotely controlled by the mind of
a genetically matched human being.
Regardless of their differences, he was able to belong with them and even fell
in love to their kinds.
They faced many battles in protecting Pandora and
eventually succeeded.
To become a wholly different person
in another world is one of the wildest imagination I dreamed of.
In another
world where you can be stronger, smarter, bigger and more good-looking is an
irresistible offer.
Pandora is the exact resemblance of a dreamworld while Jake
is the perfect metaphor of an imperfect person.
Being a marine and suffering
from paraplegia, it may be the end of the road for anyone. And when Jake was
offered with this opportunity, to be whole again in another world, one strike
is enough to say Yes!
But as the movie goes, it taught me a lot of things.
That
just like in our world, nothing is perfect. You may be given another
opportunity to start all over again but that doesn't spare you from
experiencing all the hardships that life has to offer.
Indeed, life is not all
roses. This is the bittersweet reality of life.
One can never escape from
reality, that life is full of challenges we need to face to become someone that
we are now.
We need to respect every other creature surrounding us to become
fully part of the environment that we are living.
As pretty as my dreams can
bring to my imagination, eventually,
I need to wake up.
And by the time I am
fully conscious, these wonderful experiences will remain pleasant in my mind
and yet life has to move forward.
