香取神道流剣術の免許が若侍に授与されたことが近隣に知れ渡りました。 ある日、若侍の母親が嫁の話があることを伝えました。 放蕩三昧の噂が災いして、元服がすぎても、若侍に嫁の話が来ることはありませんでした。 若侍は無意識に頷き、嫁をとることになりました。
ささやかな祝言が終わり、１年が過ぎました。 嫁は物静かで、若侍と多くを語ることもありませんでした。 やがて、嫁は身ごもり、臨月となり、男の子と女の子が生まれました。 若侍の母親は大いに驚き、落胆しました。
嫁は健気に二人の子に等しく乳を与えました。 数か月が過ぎ、若侍の母親が、”女の子を里子に出す”と言いました。 若侍の少しの抵抗は、”武家のしきたりであり、二人の子を育てる余裕もない”という母親の言葉に打ち砕かれました。
女の子は里親に引き取られてゆきました。 嫁はそれを見送り、残された男の子が眠る部屋に戻り、その傍らで涙をこらえておりました。 不憫に思った若侍は嫁の肩を優しく抱いてやりました。 その瞬間、嫁は若侍の胸に飛び込み、堰を切ったように大声で泣き、涙を流しました。
若侍は初めて、嫁に肉親の情を感じました。 何も知らずに”すやすや”と眠る小さな息子、そして、悲しみに打ち拉がれそうになっている嫁に初めて情愛を感じました。 自分を必要としている、この弱い者を自分が守らなければならないと強く感じました。
南極ペンギンは育てた数羽のひなの中から、最後に１羽だけ選んで育てると言われております。 母鳥は生まれたひなを数週間育て、ある日、突然走りだすそうです。 ひなは餌を欲して母鳥を追い続けます。
１羽が疲れて脱落し、そして、もう１羽が脱落します。 そして、最後まで母鳥を追い続けたひなに餌を与え育てるということです。 脱落したひなは、母鳥の守りがなくなり、アホードリに天高く攫われ餌食になります。 それを見ている母鳥の思いは、鳥とはいえ、察するものがあります。

His bride equally gave milk to their two babies. Several months have passed, and the mother said, "The girl baby should be given to other". His small resisitance was easily faded away by the mother's word that it is a way of Samurai, and we can not afford to feed two babies".
One day, the girl baby was given to other. The bride bare to tear while sitting next to the boy baby after she saw the girl baby off. He placed his hands on her shoulders and held her gently. Right after that, she held him back tightly and began crying with tearing.
He felt love against her for the first time. He loved his boy baby peacefully sleeping next to them and his bride crying within his arms for the first time. He strongly felt he had to protect them who were weak and needed him.
It is said that a penguin raises only one baby which was selected among many babies. A mother penguin raises babies for several months, and one day she suddenly runs away from the babies. The babies chase her to get feeding. One baby gives up chasing for being tired, and then another one. Eventually the mother penguin raises one baby which got her by chasing. The babies which gave up chasing were kidnapped by an albatross into sky high without her protection and become food for them. We can easily understand what the mother penguin looking at it thinks, even though it is a bird, not human beings.
