香取神道流の稽古から帰る夜道に、若侍は異様な殺気を感じました。 見れば、５軒先の夜道に小さな光が灯っております。若侍は狐の仕業かと思いました。 その瞬間、刃が暗闇に不気味に光り、音もなく、若侍の面をめがけて飛んできました。 若侍は咄嗟にその刃をかわし、腰に差した小太刀を抜き、小霞にうけ胴を切りつけました。
”うっ”という苦悶する声がし、”ざざ”という後ずさりする音が聞こえました。 暗闇の中で、一つの影がもう一つの影を支え、引きずっておりました。 若侍は右手で小太刀を青眼に構え、更に一歩前に詰め寄りました。 二つの影は戦き、暗闇に姿を消しました。
若侍は、燃え尽きた提灯の傍に倒れた下男と恐ろしさに震えている身なりのよい娘を見ました。 意識を取り戻した下男は、娘とともに深く礼をして夜道を帰ってゆきました。
若侍は香取神道流の修練により、妻、子、家族を越えて、自分にも守ってやれることができることを知りました。 流祖飯篠長威斎家直先生のように偉大でなく、主である領主のような器でなくとも、天から授かった己の大きさでも、人様のために役立つことがあることを知りました。
The young worrier felt an air of imminent violence when he was on his way to home from the practice of Katori Shintoryu. He saw small flare about 10 meter ahead of him. He thought a fox tricked him.
At the moment, a sword glimmered weirdly in the dark, and then the sword almost hit his head without sounds. He quickly escaped from it, and cut opponents' belly with his small swrod after he protected himself with it from the opponent's sword.
He heard an anguished voice from the opponent and a sound of stepping back. A person was pulling another person back in the dark. The young worrier pointing at them with the sword one-stepped forward toward the opponent. Two of them were so scared and disappered in the dark.
He found a lady wearing nice clothes & shuddering with fear, and a manservant was unconscious & laying down next to a burned paper lantern. The manservant, who became conscious again, together with the lady got back to their home after they bowed deeply for their gratitude.
He knew he could protect someones beyond my wife, child, and family. He knew he could help some of people with his given talent from God, even though he was not so great unlike the founder and not so generous unlike his landlord.
