ある日の夕方、その侍と中堅の門人が稽古を終え、家路についた時、中堅の門人が尋ねました。 ”先輩は、門人の中でだれがもっとも優れた技を持っていると思いますか？” その侍は、それには答えずに笑顔を返しました。 ”私は小池さんと思います。小池さんの技は完璧です。多くの門人が小池さんが次の師範になるべきと言ってます。” その侍は、笑顔で答えました。”それは長威斎先生が決めることです。長威斎先生は、我々、門人の視点とは計り知れないほど高く異なる視点をお持ちだ。”
その侍は、以前、長威斎先生がおしゃったことを思い出しておりました。”香取神宮経津主大神の技に比べれば、どんな人の技も赤子の技と知るべし。 天地を敬い、経津主大神を敬い、己の未熟を知り稽古に励むべし”。 その侍は、人間は自分の目の前の視点のみで優劣を決めつけるものであり、異なる高い視点から本質を見極めようとすることの難しさを知りました。
武道を志す人は、常に謙虚に技を磨き、自分の技の未熟を知らなければなりません。 自分の技が誰よりもすぐれ完璧と奢ったときに、その人の技の進歩は終わり、人間としての成長も終わります。 私は１００ポイントの技を持っております。 中堅の門人は８０ポイントかもしれません。私の先輩の中には１５０ポイント、２００ポイントの技をこなす者もおります。しかし、私は天真正伝香取神道流師範大竹利典先生の百万ポイントの技を見ました。 百万ポイントの技と比べれば、８０ポイント、１００ポイント、１５０ポイント、２００ポイントの技もドングリの背比べです。 門人同士で、”この目糞よりあの鼻糞のほうがきれいだ、否、この目糞はあの鼻糞より美しい”というような狭い視点（ミクロ）での低レベルな議論をするのでなく、視点を広くし（マクロ）本質を見極める高いレベルの議論をしたいものです。 香取神宮経津主大神と長威斎先生の技のポイントは測り知れません。
The samurai and a student finished practicing in the evening of some days, and on the way home, the student asked. " Who is a superior doing the most excellent work among students ?" Without answering that, the samurai has returned a smiling face. " I think Mr. Koike. Mr. Koike's work is perfect. Many students are saying that Mr. Koike should become the next master." The samurai answered by a smiling face." That's that Chouisai-Sensei decides. Chouisai-Sensei has a very high and different viewpoint we can not imagine."
The samurai remembered what Choisai-Sensei had said before." Every kind of person's work should be infant's work compared with work of Futsunushi No Omikami of Katori shrine. Respect a universe and Futsunushi No Omikami, and should know immaturity of your sword technique and dedicate oneself to a practice". Human beings decide a superior and an inferior only by the angle right in front of themself, and the samurai learned about difficulty of judging the nature from the high viewpoint ones doesn't see.
Persons who aim at a martial art always has to improve skill and know immaturity of the work modestly. When the person thinks the person's work is more highly skilled than everyone and perfect, and the progress of the person's skill ends, and growth as man also ends. I have 100 points of work. A student may have 80 points. My seniors make up with 200 points of work and 150 points. But I saw one million points of work by Mr. Katori Shintoryu Master Mr Risuke Otake. From one million points of work, there is no big diffrenece among work of 80 points, 100 points, 150 points and 200 points. Points of works by Chouisai Sensei and Futsunushi No Omikami are beyond measuring.
