ある夜、その侍は襲撃を受けました。 右に一人、左に一人、そして、正面には、すでに剣を抜いて清眼に構えた一人の敵が、異様な殺気をもって今にも切り付けてくる勢いでした。右の敵の清眼は低く、その侍の右手のみで抜かれた剣が右の敵の顔を切り割きました。 同時に、面に切りかかってきた左の敵の剣を躱わし、首を切りつけました。一瞬にして、左右の敵が切り倒されました。 その侍は静かに正面の敵に対峙し、清眼に構え１歩前に滲み寄りました。 その威圧に屈し、正面の敵は後ずさりし、闇に消えました。 香取の地の領主に進言し、知恵をもって隣国との戦さを避けたその侍への恨みでした。 いつの世にも戦さ、衝突に心躍らせる輩がいることは事実です。
先日の稽古で、天真正伝香取神道流師範大竹利典先生から２０数年前に口伝で教えていただいた戦法を久しぶりに見て思い出しました。 複数の敵からの襲撃に対処する戦法です。 秘伝は、片手打ちの利をもって死角の敵から倒すことです。 不肖の弟子ですので、すっかり忘れておりました。 香取神道流の真髄は口伝に多くあります。 口伝の本質を見極め、後世に伝えてゆきたいと思います。 それでは、３人以上の敵に襲撃された時の対処法は？。 これは有名です。
The Samurai came under surprise attack at some nights. A warrior standing in right side of the Samurai, a worrior standing in left side, and another worrier in front removed a sword already and assumed the momentum which is being cut shortly with an abnormal thirst. Since Seigan of the right worrior was low, the sword of the Samurai's right hand cut the face up immediately. At the same time, a sword of the left samurai who has almost slashed at a face of the Samurai was escaped and the neck was cut. Two worriors in left and right were cut down. The samurai was confronted with the front worrier quietly, one step forward toword the front worrior. The front worrior yielded to the coercion and moved backward and disappeared into the darkness. It was a hostility to the samurai who advised a landlord of Katori and avoided war with a neighboring country with wisdom. It's fact that there are some people who like war in a world in everytime.
I remembered the tactics I was told by oral instruction from Mr. Otake more than 20 years ago, when it was seen in the current practice. It is the tactics which handles a maraud from more than one enemy. A secret is to cut down from an enemy in a blind spot with an advantage of one hand. I was an unworthy follower, so it was forgot completely. There is a lot of natures of Katori Shintoryu in oral instruction. I'd like to understand the meaning of oral instructions and also transmit to next generation from now on. Then do you know how to handle maraud by more than 3 enemies? This is quite famous.
