武楽座新作公演 武楽「神曲」修羅六道が開催されます。武楽とは、武楽座家元源光士郎氏が創始した武の美を表現した武道芸術です。

天真正意則平法也
「武」は強さであり、究極、優しさです。神代の時代から平安、鎌倉、室町、そして、昭和、平成、令和までの皇紀2681年間、マクロな視点から見れば「戦い」のない時代はありません。人々は常に「死」の恐怖を感じながら、大切な人達とつかの間の穏やかな時間を過ごしてきました。人々は大切な友人、家族、そして、子孫を守るため、「武」を通して肉体的、精神的強さを高め続けてきました。そのため、「武」は誰にも負けない機能性と効率性を極めた技を、そして、人として礼と信を極めた美しい精神性を育んでくれます。
「天真正意、則ち、平法なり」。室町時代から６７０年間、連綿と受け継げられてきた天真正伝香取神道流剣術の流祖飯篠長威斎家直公と師範故大竹利典先生のお言葉です。「武」である香取神道流は人を殺す手段でなく、平和な世を築き人々を幸福に生かすための術であると教えております。「敵に勝つ者を上とし、敵を討つ者を之に次ぐ」とし、戦わずして目的を達成する者が真の勝者であると教えております。また、「諸々の敵意は敵意に依り、いつまでも鎮まることなし。唯、敵意無きに依り鎮まる」と諭しております。「死」が日常であった時代に大切な友人、家族を殺されて湧き起こる憎しみ、敵意を抑えることができる精神力、そして、敵と対峙する死の恐怖を乗り越える精神力はどのようなものでしょうか？
「死」に直面する武士は、己の思いを武具に託し精神的支柱としました。ある者は刀身に不動明王を彫り、また、ある者は鍔に経を彫り込みました。特攻隊員のご両親は先祖代々の田畑を売り払い、名刀を買い求め、突撃してゆくご子息に与えました。その思いは、潔く死なせることでなく、生きてほしいという願いです。人類の歴史を顧み、アフガニスタンやシリアのような現在の情勢を見れば、人間は「戦い」を止めることはないと言わざるを得ません。ゆえに、「戦い」を止めさせる努力を永遠にし続けなければなりません。「武」は、そのためにあります。「武」は「死」に直面しますが、その真髄は「人として穏やかに生きる」ことにあります。いつの世も、人として穏やかに生きることが困難であるから、生きるために「武」があります。
武楽座創始家元源光士郎氏は、天真正伝香取神道流剣術を共に極めようと鍛錬をしている同門弟です。平成、令和と続く現代は、ミクロな視点で見れば「戦い」のない平和な時代です。そのような時代だからこそ、忘れられそうな「武」の研ぎ澄まされた技と「死」と向き合う真摯な精神性をこの公演を通して美しく演じ、「武」の真髄を広く伝えていただけることを期待しております。

Tenshi Shoden is how to live peacefully
"Bu= a martial art" is strength, ultimately, kindness. From the age of the Gods to Heian, Kamakura, Muromachi, and the Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa eras, there is no era without "battle" from a macro perspective. People have spent a peaceful time with their loved ones, always feeling the fear of "death." People have continued to increase their physical and mental strength through "Bu" in order to protect their dear friends, family and descendants. Therefore, "Bu" fosters a skill that is second to none in functionality and efficiency, and a beautiful spirituality that is extremely respectful and credible as a person.
"Tenshin Shoden, that is, how to live peacefully." These are the words of the founder of Tenshin Shoden Katori Shintoryu swordsmanship, Mr Iizasa Ienao, and the late teacher Mr Risuke Otake, who have been handed down for 670 years since the Muromachi period. We were tought that the Katori Shintoryu, which is "bu", is not a means of killing people, but a method of building a peaceful world and keeping people happy. "The one who wins the enemy is on top, and the one who defeats the enemy is second only", and teaches that the one who achieves the purpose without a battle is the true winner. In addition, he advises, "Various hostility depends on hostility and never calms down. Only, it calms down by no hostility." What is the hatred of killing important friends and family in an era when "death" was commonplace, the mental power to suppress hostility, and the mental power to overcome the fear of death confronting the enemy?
Faced with "death," the samurai entrusted their thoughts to the armor and made it a spiritual pillar. Some carved Fudo Myo on his blade, and some carved sutras on his Tuba. The parents of Tokkoutai sold off the fields of their ancestors, bought a famous sword, and gave it to their son who was assaulting. The idea is not to die gracefully, but to live. Looking back on human history and looking at the current situation in Afghanistan and Syria, we must say that humans will never stop the "battle." Therefore, efforts to stop the "battle" must continue forever. "Bu" is for that purpose. "Bu" faces "death", but the essence is to "live calmly as a person". Since it is always difficult for the world to live calmly as a person, there is "Bu" to live.
Mr. Koshiro Minamoto, the founder of the Bugakuza, is a disciple who is training to master the Tenshin Shoden Katori Shintoryu swordsmanship together. The present age, which continues with Heisei and Reiwa, is a peaceful era without "battle" from a micro perspective. Because of such an era, I hope that he will be able to beautifully perform through his performance the sharpened technique of "Bu" that is likely to be forgotten and the sincere spirituality that confronts "Death", and to widely convey the essence of "Bu".
